December brings to an end a very atypical year and the hope of better things in the future. Preparations for a slightly different Christmas and thoughts turning towards 2021.
Many people (me included!) will say that this year has deprived them of that wonderful feeling of anticipation. They missed counting the weeks and days until a special event. This may have been a family celebration or a much needed holiday in Mallorca.
Having worked in the travel industry for over 30 years I believed that I had `seen it all´. However 2020 presented an opportunity to survive a global panademic which halted the world of travel in its tracks. I never thought I would see a Mallorca with deserted beaches and closed up hotels and restaurants in July. Mallorca claimed back its famous title `The Isle of Calm´. Crystal clear waters, blue skies, silence overhead and plenty of time to explore the hidden corners. I shared stunning photos on social media which I hope you enjoyed. However Mallorca missed you, the all important tourist. Those visitors who were able to travel were knocked out by the sheer beauty and relaxation Mallorca offered them. A reminder of travel during the 70´s some said. They were also very complimentary as to how safe they felt here in Mallorca. Enhanced cleanliness and extra safety measures confirmed that they had made the right decision to travel. Many eagerly await a return in 2021.
